A story of a girl surviving in the wilderness after escaping a colonial fort dying of starvation and illness in the new world.
It reminded me a bit of Into the Wild.
There were lots of poetic moments of her observing her surroundings and surmising how she ended up in this situation. They do a good job of weaving in backstory.
I love the acknowledgement of the first nations. As the narrator talks about how they the europeans have invaded their space.
