Non-Fiction War

A Bookshop in Berlin

4 stars

A really interesting WWII story. It really had barely anything to do with a bookshop in berlin that the protagonist just happened to have owned at one time. They should have stuck with the original title from its first publishing in 1945.

I loved that fact that i had recently watched the show Transatlantic on Netflix, because it helped me paint a visual picture of the area and the issues with identifications, visas and attempts to flee the occupation.

I had expected a story involving a bookshop during wartime but still came away with a sense of satisfaction at the story that was told. I love hearing about these uniquely personal experiences of WWII.
