I expected this book to be a little more humorous. Overall, it was a bit of a bummer, as a 41 year old woman navigates a mid life crisis. There were some relatable moments that didn’t provide me with the escape I’m typically looking for out of a novel.
The story is riddled with the main characters problems dealing with her daughter, her husband, and her own relationship with aging. The story flips between the current story (trying to bring her daughter a birthday cake), and the past moments that lead up to the chaotic present.
Overall a really well written book. I would recommend it, but maybe not to someone of a similar age demographic. It might be more enjoyable once you’ve come out the other side.
