The novel has a slower pace, and develops quite gradually due to the main story being intertwined with the main character reminiscing about her past. These insights into her past aren’t just passing insignificant sidebars, they reveal integral backstory details about all the characters, so those disruptions are welcome.
I really enjoyed the way the author didn’t force a secondary love interest into the story in order to try and set the main character up for some sort of happily ever after in a relationship, which is a common trope.
I like how you initially don’t suspect anything ill of the main character.
I would recommend this book.
